Angel Heart Hotel
Over the years I kept repeating very basic medical imagery; the bandaged man, the nurse. The nurse, especially with a baby was I suppose a formal pictorial reference to religious painting and it also bore biographical associations as my mother was a nurse; though very little of this rarely crossed my mind. I practised my drawing and painting upon the repetition.
I have included the work here under the one title 'Angel Heart Hotel' in reference to a book of poetry by Alec Streeter, that I illustrated the cover for when I was about 19 or 20. The cover was of a nurse and the last I heard, Alec was languishing in a mental hospital.
